My Kind of Protest

This is the kind of protest I could get into.  Peaceful, friendly, funny (yes, I realize it’s been photoshopped – I still think it’s funny):

Your Life as a Movie

A good thought about making your life count (from vi.sualize).

Even worse than straight to video might be the cutting room floor:

Global Warming is Caused by Daylight Savings Time?

Have you ever wondered about the effect of extending daylight savings time?  Neither have I.  But someone did and assumes it is the cause of global warming.

This has been around for a bit, but I still found it funny.  I wonder if Al Gore is thinking the same way:

I Never Finish What I Star (do yo)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t finish what I star…

Valentine’s Day Happiness

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I found a list of 50 things that are supposed to make us happy and thought I’d share 14 of the ones I liked as a tribute to February 14.  You can find the complete list here to see if your list is different.

  1. A hot shower.
  2. Taking a drive on a pretty road.
  3. Hearing your favorite song on the radio.
  4. Hot towels fresh out of the dryer.
  5. A good conversation.
  6. Laughing at yourself.
  7. Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.
  8. Road trips with friends.
  9. Swinging on swings.
  10. Winning a really competitive game.
  11. Seeing smiles and hearing laughter from your friends.
  12. Holding hands with someone you care about.
  13. Running into an old friend and realizing that some things (good or bad) never change.
  14. Getting out of bed every morning and being grateful for another beautiful day.

President Obama is MAD (Magazine Cover)

I used to love MAD Magazine when I was a kid.  I would devour each issue.  That’s probably why this cover resonates with me.  I realize it’s been more than 100 minutes, but I expect to see President Obama age several years each week.

44 U.S. Presidents from Washington to Obama

This is an interesting video that morphs from one president to the next, from George Washington to Barack Obama:

Her Morning Elegance

This video was sent to me by Tanya (who still hasn’t bothered to begin blogging).  I really like it, think it’s wonderfully creative, and it features a great song by Oren Lavie:

Happiness

I change jobs fairly often – I happen to be a change agent, so I get called on often to help change the culture of an organization.  Sometimes that means changing the personnel, sometimes not.  What it does mean is that for a period of time, when I first arrive, most people are on their best behavior.

I’ve heard this called the “honeymoon period.”  I prefer to call it “the period of suspended judgement.”  People aren’t ignoring things, we just haven’t yet decided how we are going to react.  This is what I had in mind when I found this little slogan below:
