  1. I definitely will be checking these out. I’ve used Pandora before…and have Rhapsody and XM Radio accounts. I love Rhapsody b/c I like building playlists. And I’m obsessed with XM radio right now. I’ve been building playlists of the music I love from XM. If I’m driving and I hear a song I love, I leave myself a voicemail of the song and artist so I can add it later. I’m kind of a dork.

Well, join the DC (Dork Club) – although I prefer to be called technogeek.

  2. hm, it’s a very old list and there are hundreds of sites out there. Your list is more an US shortlist. There are many great music communities in Australia, Asia and Europe that are worthwhile checking. But once again there are hundreds maybe even thousands.

I am focussing on sites where you can download and share music lawfully (no DRM, no royalties, free of charge to download, remix, copy). Where musicians just want to connect with fans and markets sharing their music for free ( = more exposure = more tickets for live concerts = more merchandise etc.)

That’s the future if you are asking the specialists (Gerd Leonhard for example).

Thanks Gary. I’m old, so it’s no surprise the list would be as well. I like to listen at Pandora while working on my computer. That’s about the only time I have for music. Thanks for giving direction to newer locations. Thanks too for the visit and comment.

  3. I like this list! There definitely a few of these I hadn’t heard of and I will be linking back to your post. Great job!

Thanks. I see that you have quite an interesting musical show. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

  4. Pandora sounds really interesting. I will be checking it out. Thanks!

I use Pandora for background music while I’m working, but like Songza if I am looking to hear a particular song.

  6. We7 is another service where you can legally listen to music for free, you can create and share your own playlists with music from three of the four major labels and hundreds of indies and there is also the facility to buy and own what you really love

    Thanks for the heads up.
